Not what you thought?

Has anyone ever really surprised you? Not in a ‘their Insta-life looks so perfect’ way, but in a genuinely, ‘can’t believe that’s them’ way?

Someone I know a little has made a terrible decision, which has had significant legal, personal and professional ramifications. I hold them in high esteem, professionally and personally and feel devastated that this can have happened; what has gone wrong in their life to mean that this has happened? Are they the person I knew? Can I still hold them with the same regard? Would I feel differently if I had read about their situation and not known them?

I love the saying, “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.” I’m not sure that it’s always true, because there’s another element, where if you’re neither solution nor problem, then get your nose out of it…

I’m trying to decide whether I can be part of the solution for this person, or whether I need to keep my nose out. Either way, I know that I’m not going to be part of the problem.
